Here I’ll be talking about GhostBed weighted blanket.
In typical GhostBed fashion, this blanket is cooling, bit it also thin and light. So you hot sleepers out there, you better be paying attention, because this blanket could level up your sleep game real quick.
In this article, I’ll be going over this blanket’s construction, how I felt using it, who it’s good for, who it’s not so good for. Plus, at the end, I’ll be answering some of your frequently asked questions.

Let’s start by breaking down the construction of GhostBed weighted blanket. Construction will tell us the how and why of this blanket’s performance abilities.
This blanket does come with one of the more simple constructions that I’ve come across thus far, because unlike other weighted blanket, this blanket doesn’t come with an outer cover and it’s only offered in one size and weight.
Ghostbed intentionally did this and claims that the 15 pound queen size option is the perfect sweet spot size for most adults. They also say it can be used both individually or shared with a partner.
Like I said, this blanket doesn’t come with an outer duvet cover. It only comes with this incredibly thin weighted blanket, which would typically be the weighted insert of other weighted blanket.
So just know that you’re getting just the blanket itself.
The material is 100% Tencel Lyocell, which is naturally hypoallergenic, breathable and cool to the touch, and it’s designed with a gridded square pattern to keep the fill evenly distributed.
Inside each square are tiny premium micro beads, which give the blanket its overall weight.
There are also tiny loops along the edge. These are here to give you the option to attach the weighted blanket to an outer duvet cover of your choice, if you’d like.
As for care instructions, you can only spot clean this blanket with mild detergent and warm water and then lay flat to dry.
Now I’m going to talk about something everyone can understand the feel.
This blanket feels so super thin and I cannot exaggerate that enough – thin and light on the body.
It doesn’t feel like the 15 pound that it says it is. So if you’re someone who is intrigued by a weighted blanket but worried about the possibility of an overwhelming feeling, you’re not going to get that with this option.
It’s cool against the skin, feels silky smooth, and doesn’t trap any body heat over prolonged use.
When I tried this out for myself, I felt like the weight was evenly distributed throughout, making moving from one sleeping position to another very easy.
You can feel the tiny glass beads inside the fabric, but it didn’t bother me personally. You could also easily combat this by putting your own duvet cover on top for more of a buffer between you and the blanket.
When deciding the right weight for you for your blanket, I recommend calculating 10% of your body weight.
Now with this blanket, it only comes in a 15 pound option, which will work perfectly if you are in that 150 pound range, but can also work for those who are between 120 pounds all the way up to 180 pounds.
If you fall outside of that spectrum, whether you’re on the low end or the high end, this blanket probably won’t be for you. That’s because it’ll either be too heavy or too light for your body to experience deep touch pressure, and that’s arguably the biggest benefit of using a weighted blanket.
This is when you apply firm yet gentle pressure to your entire body to relax your nervous system. This releases serotonin and melatonin into your body and decreases your overall levels of cortisol, which is our stress hormone. Allowing your body to relax, alleviate any feelings of stress or anxiety, and fall into a deep, more restful sleep.
I outlined the best and worst aspects of the Ghostbed weighted blanket to help make your buying decision a little bit easier.
Starting off with the pros, this blanket comes with amazing cooling capabilities. Thanks to that Tencel Lyocell cover, this blanket is cool to the touch and stays cool over prolonged use.
It’s also super thin, so if you’re a hot sleeper, this is the weighted blanket for you.
Moving on to the next pro, this blanket has a very large size. It comes in a queen size, so if you want to share this blanket, if you’re a larger individual or you’re super tall, this blanket is great and allows for you to sprawl out and still stay completely covered.
Moving on to the last pro, this blanket will allow you to experience deep touch pressure, which is the biggest benefit of a weighted blanket. As long as that weight is correct for your body size, you’ll be able to relax and get a great night’s sleep.
Moving onto the cons, this blanket will be harder to maintain than other blankets just because of its care instructions. This is spot clean only, so you can’t just throw it in the machine if it gets a stain or anything like that. So just be aware of that if you are super crazy about cleaning and upkeep with your blanket.
Moving on to the next con, this blanket cannot be returned. Ghostbed does not allow for returns on the weighted blanket because it is a personal use item.
Moving on to the last con, it only comes in one weight option. Ghostbed intentionally only made a 15 pound option because they believe that’s the sweet spot of a weight for most adults. But if you fall outside of that 120 to 180 pound spectrum that I was talking about earlier, this will not be the blanket for you.
Now I’m going to go over some quick hits regarding Ghostbed’s policies, so you know exactly what to expect when you go to buy.
It ships for free and comes with a three year warranty. But just be aware that this product cannot be returned because GhostBed claims that it’s the personal use product. Know that before you go to buy.
Now I’ll be answering some of your frequently asked questions about the GhostBed weighted blanket.
Starting off with question number one, why doesn’t the GhostBed come in other sizes?
GhostBed intentionally released only one size and weighted option for their weighted blanket. They say that that is the perfect size for most adults.
That being said, I always recommend calculating 10% of your body weight when choosing the right weight of blanket for you so you can experience that deep touch pressure.
Ideally, someone getting this blanket would be about 150 pound, but I still think it would work for those who are between 120 all the way up to 180 pounds. If you fall outside of that spectrum and you’re still interested in a weighted blanket, I’d recommend checking out other weighted blankets.
Moving on to the next question, can this blanket only be used as a throw, or can you use it as a comforter? The great thing about this blanket coming in a queen size is that you can use it as a traditional throw blanket, but it can also be used as a comforter on a queen size bed or something smaller.
Moving on to the last question, what are the different types of fill used for weighted blanket? Companies use all different types of fill for their weighted blanket. Ghostbed used premium glass micro beads for theirs, but companies use things like sand, plastic pellets, or even dried foods like rice or beans.
