You probably know the name Sleep Number as the ultimate adjustable mattress company on the market. But did you know that they sell a variety of other products too, take for example the Sleep Number True Temp weighted blanket.
Here I’ll be going over all the features that you need to know about this weighted blanket, my experience with it and a whole lot more.
This weighted blanket comes in two weight options in 12 pounds and 20 pounds, but if you’re wondering which weight option is going to be better for you, the general rule of thumb is to take 10% of your body weight and add or subtract about a pound or two.
So if you’re closer to 120 pounds then the 12 pound option is going to be better for you. If you’re closer to 200 pounds, the 20 pound option is what you need.
This blanket comes in three different colors: dark blue. gray and plum. It measures about 48 inches by 70 inches.
So that’s all the basics out of the way.
Let’s get into the construction of the Sleep Number True Temp weighted blanket.
Table of Contents
Construction
Let’s start with the cover for this weighted blanket.
Sleep Number describes this as being infused with something called 37.5 active particle technology and what that means is that is going to attract heat away from your body and is going to wick moisture away to prevent you from overheating underneath this blanket.
In terms of feel the best way I can describe it is that it feels like a really soft sleeping bag material.
When you peel back the zipper, inside you can find the actual blanket itself.
Sleep Number says that this is designed with something called a no shift channel design and all that means it is going to prevent your blanket from shifting around inside the cover too much.
What gives this blanket its weight is that each of the square panels is filled with glass beads.
If you’re really wanting some extra security to keep this blanket from shifting around inside the cover, there are some ties to tie it to the cover.
Cleaning & Care
What’s really good about this cover is that it is machine washable.
So if you manage to spill something on it or get some food on it or if you just generally like keeping your blankets clean, take it off, throw it in the washing machine and you should be good to go.
One thing to note is that for the blanket itself, Sleep Number recommends that you only spot clean that, so I would recommend really being careful if you have the cover off of it, because you can’t throw it in the washing machine like the cover.
My Experience
That’s all we need to talk about for the construction.
Let’s get into the most important part of this review, my experience with the Sleep Number True Temp weighted blanket.
It’s really important for me to take bedding products home and test them out there so I can give you my honest opinions on whether or not they worked for me.
The model that I tested out was the 12 pound option, so as a heavier person this is already a little bit lighter than I need, but I did feel some really good weight distribution while I was lounging with it.
As I mentioned earlier, it only measures 48 by 70 inches, so it’s not going to quite cover a full-size bed or anything bigger than that.
In fact Sleep Number says that this is only designed for a single person, so that’s something to note.
If you’re a little bit taller too, your feet might get left out in the cold, so just keep that in mind.
I would actually really recommend this blanket for lounging on the couch, which is mostly how I used this blanket.
I tend to be a generally hot person, I sleep hot, I need fans going. So with this blanket I felt generally pretty warm underneath it.
I didn’t overheat, however, I think the first time I was using it, I was already feeling a little bit warm. So when I put the blanket on, I did feel pretty toasty underneath.
But when I had the fans going and the room cooled down a bit, I felt really comfortable and really secure.
I also have a cat at home and she can be pretty hot when she’s sleeping on or near me. When I was using this blanket, she came and rested on my chest and I actually didn’t feel her heat transfer through the blanket.
So that was a huge plus for me.
Overall I think this is going to be a good blanket for the winter months, but in the heat it might run a little warm.
Pros
I love a good pros and cons list, so let’s talk about the pros and who this blanket’s going to be for and the cons and who it might not be for.
Starting with the pros, this is going to be a really good weighted blanket option for more average weight people, around 120 to 200 pounds, because of the two weight options.
Also if you’re someone who gets cold really easily, this blanket is really going to keep you nice and warm, especially in the winter months.
This is also going to be a really good weighted blanket for people who just love easy care because with the removable cover you can just take it off and throw it in the washing machine.
Cons
Now for the cons and who this blanket’s not going to quite be for.
This is not going to be a good option for people looking for a variety, especially if you need something heavier than 20 pounds to meet that 10 body weight mark.
This also could be a bit of a pricey option for you, so if you’re on a budget I would keep looking.
And finally this isn’t going to be a good weighted blanket option for anyone who sleeps hot. Like I said, I’m a hot sleeper, I didn’t feel like super overheated or hot and sweaty in it, but I didn’t exactly feel cool at night either.

Policies
Let’s talk about some additional information for the Sleep Number True Temp weighted blanket.
As I said, Sleep Number is a widely popular mattress brand, so they don’t sell just mattresses on their website. They’ve got blankets, they’ve got sheets, they’ve got mattress toppers, they’ve got it all.
All of their bedding products come with a 100 night sleep trial, so if you’re not too satisfied with this weighted blanket, you can return or even exchange it.
Overall I really enjoyed my experience with the Sleep Number True Temp weighted blanket. If I had a heavier model I’m sure I really would have felt that anxiety reducing pressure that weighted blankets are all known for, but that’s all i have to say about it.
