Puffy Pillow Review

It’s easy to go years without thinking about what you’ve been sleeping on or how it’s affecting your sleep quality or even your overall health.

But having the right mattress, pillows and other bedding can really make a difference.

That’s why I’m here for. I’m a writer who test sleep products to help you find all the right products for you.

I did all the research and all the testing so all you have to do is sit back and enjoy this review.

In this review I’m focusing on the Puffy pillow.

I’m going to be going over its construction and its feel as well as talk about how it’s going to work for different types of sleepers.

Also give you some of my honest pros and cons based on my experience from testing it out. I’ll go over some of the brand’s policies as well.

Let’s kick things off with a look at the construction of the Puffy pillow.

Despite what the design of this pillow implies, this pillow is actually not made out of clouds, although actually clouds probably wouldn’t be the best pillow material anyway.

So what is this pillow made of?

Well first let’s look at the cover. This cover is made of 60% bamboo rayon and 40% polyester. It’s completely removable and it’s also machine washable.

If we unzip the pillow, we can see the inner lining, which is made of 100% polypropylene, which is commonly used in upholstery.

This inner lining holds the filling, which is made of 100% shredded polyurethane foam. This foam has a really interesting texture in my opinion.

A lot of other shredded foam pillows that I’ve tested in the past have more like cubes or strips of foam, whereas this foam really isn’t cut or shredded in any sort of particular shape or size. It’s very condensed and packed into the pillow.

It’s just a really interesting texture for a foam fill pillow.

Puffy has made this pillow adjustable so you can simply remove some of the fill if you want to lower the loft of the pillow.

Additionally all the foam used in this pillow is CertiPUR-US certified to be free from any harmful chemicals or pollutants.

All the materials used in this pillow are hypoallergenic and dust mite resistant, which is great for those of us who have allergies.

This pillow is going to be available in two sizes, standard and a king size.

Knowing all the names of the materials and talking about the construction of this pillow is meaningless if I don’t talk about how it makes it feel.

To give you a good idea of this feel of this pillow, I ran it through a super vigorous test called sleeping on it.

I took this pillow home to test it out for a few nights and here’s what I found.

First I really like the feel of the cover of this pillow. It has a really nice cushy, soft feel to it and also it feels pretty cool to the touch thanks to that bamboo rayon used in the fabric.

Bamboo is a great fabric for temperature regulation as well as moisture wicking.

Combine that with the shredded fill that allows for more air flow in the pillow and I would say this is gonna be a pretty good pillow for hot sleepers.

As far as the overall feel of the pillow, I would actually say the Puffy pillow has a slightly firmer feel.

I realize that sounds kind of backwards for the pillow called the Puffy, but I think that the foam is so tightly packed in this pillow that it actually gives it a little bit more of a firm feel.

Still the shredded foam allows for some gives so you can sink in just a little bit for some contouring around your head and neck.

I like that overall this pillow has a supportive feel but it still allows for some flexibility and give since the foam is shredded.

Best Pillows For All Sleep Positions

    Sleeping Positions

It’s time to talk about how the Puffy pillow is going to work for different types of sleepers.

Whether you sleep on your back, stomach or side can make a big difference in whether a pillow is going to work for you.

Let’s start off with back sleeping.

Back sleepers need a middle ground pillow something with a medium firmness and a medium loft.

You can adjust the loft of the Puffy pillow to a perfect medium for you and since the firmness is just a touch firmer than a true medium I think it’ll work really well to keep your head and neck supported properly throughout the night.

    Let’s talk about side sleepers.

When you’re sleeping on your side, you want your head and neck to stay in line with the rest of your spine, which usually means a higher loft and a firmer feel.

I think the Puffy is actually perfect here.

The slightly firmer feel is going to be great, it’s supportive but just pliable enough that you’ll get some contouring around your head. And again you can adjust the loft to your liking.

    Finally stomach sleepers.

Stomach sleepers are generally going to want a pretty low loft and a softer feel to prevent their neck from craning.

While the Puffy does have that slightly firm feel I actually think it can still work for stomach sleepers by removing some of the fill to lower the loft.

The foam in the Puffy isn’t quite as elevating as some of the shredded foam I’ve seen in other pillows like this, so I think you actually can get it to a level that’ll be comfortable for stomach sleepers.

I’ve gone over some pretty key information regarding the Puffy pillow, so now let’s go over my pros and cons .

    Starting off with the pros.

My first pro for this pillow would definitely be that I think it’s pretty cooling.

The bamboo fabric used in the cover is pretty cool to the touch and I think the shredded foam will allow for some good air circulation in the pillow that will prevent heat from getting dropped.

So hot sleepers this is a pretty solid pick for you.

Next I would say that I like that the outer cover of this pillow is machine washable. You can just throw it in the washing machine and since the inner pillow is not washable, that’ll really help you to keep the pillow clean overall.

Third I really like that this pillow is versatile for different sleeping positions.

I think this pillow can work for back, side or stomach sleepers depending on how you alter the loft.

And if you’re a combination sleeper who switches between sleeping on your back and side or sleeping on your back and stomach, I think you can get this pillow to a medium loft that’ll work for two different sleeping positions at least.

Now let’s go over the cons.

First I would say if you’re after a more traditional down pillow feel, then this probably isn’t the best pick for you.

Shredded foam is a pretty common down alternative but in my opinion they have really different feels.

Next I would say that if you want a queen size pillow or another specialty size of pillow, the Puffy probably isn’t the best option for you either as it is only available in two sizes: standard and king.

And finally I would say that if you’re not the type of person who wants to have to deal with adjusting the loft of your pillow and deal with any possible foam fill messes, then I would definitely recommend a different style of pillow for you as well.

We’ve heard a lot of information about the Puffy pillow, so real quick let’s go over some of the brand’s policies.

First Puppy offers free shipping within the contiguous United States. Customers in Hawaii and Alaska will have to pay an additional shipping fee.

You can expect your pillow to arrive in about one to three business days.

Next Puffy also offers a 101 night sleep trial on this pillow, which is a pretty nice trial for a pillow.

During that trial you can test this pillow out at home and if you decide you don’t want to keep it, you can return it for a full refund.

And finally Puffy also offers a very generous lifetime warranty on this pillow that will cover any faulty workmanship or defects.
