I’m in the business of giving you unbiased no baloney reviews on the industry’s top sleep products and boy, do I have a good one for you here.
Introducing the Nolah Squishy pillow.
I want to know who is in charge of naming this pillow because it got extra points in my review for having a super cute name.
In this article I’ll go over the construction of the Squishy pillow, how it feels, who it’s good for, who it’s not so good for. At the end I’ll be answering some frequently asked questions about the Squishy pillow.
Table of Contents
Let’s talk about the construction of the Squishy pillow.
Let’s start with the cover. It is a blend of polyester and bamboo derived viscose, which is great for you hot sleepers, because bamboo is known for its breathability and cooling properties.
When you open up the cover, you can see the dual chamber design, which means there’s an inner pocket that holds all the fill of the pillow.
The inner pocket is made with visco elastic polyurethane foam pads, which is just fancy talk for extra squish to your pillow.
It’s great to have a shredded foam fill versus a memory foam fill because this will allow for breathability, nice airflow and you’ll also be able to adjust the fill of this pillow by removing any of the insert and adjusting to your comfortable position.
The Squishy pillow is OEKO-TEX certified, which means it’s free of any of those bad, harsh chemicals, which is great if you have any health concerns or allergies.
Lastly, it’s important to note that you can only purchase the Squishy pillow in packs of two and in a queen size.
Personally I find the most important quality in a pillow is its feel.
When I go to sleep I need to feel comfortable and supported. As for the Squishy pillow, it does live up to its cute name.
I got some good news for you. It really is Squishy.
All thanks to that inner foam pocket and shredded fill, which is providing support and naturally keeping you cool since its materials are so breathable.
When I lie onto this pillow, my head doesn’t immediately sink into it, it feels elevated and buoyant .
Know that this pillow is not as pliable as a memory foam block per se, so if you need a pillow that is more impressionable, I would go with another option.
That being said, I would say that the Squishy pillow is a medium firm hold.
When you first get this pillow, it comes overstuffed with the shredded foam fill, so it will have a very high loft initially.
But the great part about this pillow is it’s so adjustable so you can remove as much filling as possible to get you to your ideal loft.
Moving right on to sleeping positions.
Considering what kind of sleeper you are is important when making your pillow buying decision.
Knowing whether you’re a back sleeper, or a side, or stomach sleeper alters what kind of pillow is best for your needs.
Back sleepers you’re up first. The Squishy pillow is going to be a great option for you. You’ll be able to achieve the perfect loft for optimal comfort.
Side sleepers, look no further. I love this option for you, since the height adjustment is so personalized that is ideal for your sleeping position.
It’s so important to have a high enough loft to properly support your neck and shoulders and with the Squishy pillow you can get the loft you need for a restful night’s sleep.
Sorry stomach sleepers, this pillow is definitely not for you. Your position needs a flat pillow with a low loft. By the time you remove all the fill necessary to get you to a neutral level, you’ve lost the majority of your pillow and for the price it’s just not worth it.
Pillow buying can be super confusing so I made a pros and cons list to help make the decision a little bit easier for you.
Starting off with the pros.
the Squishy pillow is great for hot sleepers. Between having the shredded foam and the bamboo blend cover, this is great if you do get hot and stuffy in the night. This will combat all your issues.
The cover is machine washable, which if you’re like me, and you have allergies or you just always like having a nice clean pillow, this is a great option for you.
This is a great pillow for side sleepers since you can customize the loft and always have a nice feeling to your neck while you sleep and you’ll feel extra supported.
Going on to the cons.
This is not your typical memory foam pillow. So if you do like a softer feel and softer touch to your pillow look the other way. This isn’t for you.
This pillow is not good for stomach sleepers and I just don’t like the fact that they’re being left out, so it made the cons list.
You can only buy this pillow in a queen size two 2-pack, which is great if you need two pillows, but if you only need one, there’s no other option for you.
Now I’m going to go over Nolah’s policy for their Squishy pillow just so you know what to expect when you do buy.
First off you get a 120 night sleep trial for your pillow. During that time period if you decide you don’t like it, you can send it back for free, no problem.
On top of that you get a two year warranty, so if anything happens to your Squishy pillow you can send it back and get a new one.
And if you live in the contiguous United States, good news for you, Nolah will ship to you for free but if you live in Alaska and Hawaii, unfortunately the company doesn’t ship there.
Now I’m going to answer some of your frequently asked questions about the Nolahh Squishy pillow.
Starting off with number one.
How do I adjust my pillow’s height?
Great question. When you get your pillow, just unzip it, remove as much fill as you need to find your most comfortable position.
Where will my Nolah Squishy pillow be shipped from?
Nolah products are 100 manufactured and shipped right here in the USA from one of their many factories.
Does the Nolah foam smell?
Short answer no, but it’s always good practice that when you do get any product with foam you just unzip it, let the foam aerate and let it sit for a few hours and then you’ll be totally fine.
