Here I have another mattress topper review. I’m going to be talking about the Lucid 3-inch gel memory foam topper.
I’ll give you all the details about this topper. I’m gonna go over what it’s made of, what it feels like and who it’s gonna be best for.

Before we do a deep dive into this topper, let’s do a quick overview.
The Lucid gel memory foam topper ships rolled up in a box. It took me just about a minute to unbox it, unroll it and remove all the packaging.
However it is a little deflated when it first comes out of the box. It took just about an hour before it was fully inflated.
Lucid offers free shipping within the contiguous United States. At this time they don’t ship to Hawaii or Alaska nor do they ship to Canada.
Lucid offers a 30-day free return policy with this topper. So within 30 days you can return this topper if you’re unhappy with it. They also offer a three year warranty on this topper.
This review is specifically about the three inch version of this topper, but Lucid does also offer a two inch and a four inch version, which are priced differently.
But as far as the three inch version goes, it comes in seven different sizes, which range in price from $69.99 to $119.99.
But prices do change often so to see the most up-to-date pricing head over to their website.
Let’s take a look at what this topper is made of.
This is a solid block of gel infused memory foam. The gel helps to draw heat away from the body as memory foam is prone to trapping heat.
This topper is three inches in height and it also features ventilation to promote even more airflow.
And that’s about it.
All in all this is a pretty simple topper. It’s basically just a slab of memory foam that you place on top of your bed.
As I mentioned before, this topper comes in seven different sizes, which are twin, twin XL, full, full XL, queen, king and California king.
I’ve got the queen size and it fits pretty true to size on a queen size mattress.
I personally tested out this topper to get a good sense of the feel. Here’s what I thought.
I would say this foam definitely has that slow sinking in feeling that you would expect from memory foam. It definitely allows you to sink in quite a bit which is pretty cozy.
Overall O would say that this definitely has a pretty cushy, pretty squishy feel and it definitely seems to be offering a good amount of pressure relief.
One of the main purposes of a mattress topper is to alter the feel of your existing mattress. So to get a good idea of how this topper will work on different mattresses I tested it on two different mattresses of different firmnesses.
The first one I tested it on was a medium firm mattress or a 6.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale. When I added the Lucid topper on that mattress, I thought it added a lot more plushness, but it still felt pretty supportive.
I’d say it maybe lowered the firmness down to a true medium or maybe medium soft so around 5 out of 10.
The second mattress I tested this with was a super firm mattress it was an 8.5 out of 10 on our firmness scale and when I added the Lucid topper on, I thought it added a little bit more pressure relief.
But overall, again it still felt pretty supportive so I’d say it brought the firmness down to maybe more a medium firm so it’s 6.5 out of 10.
Hopefully that’ll give you a good idea of how this topper will affect your mattress.
As with almost all products relating to your sleep, your sleeping position is an important consideration when you’re purchasing a mattress topper.
So let’s go over each one starting off with back sleepers.
This topper is a great option for back sleepers, particularly those who like a softer or more pressure relieving feel.
I’m a back sleeper and personally I love how foam can really fill in the lumbar region and provide support.
I would definitely recommend this topper for back sleepers looking for a cushier bed.
Next up side sleepers.
I think this topper is a great option for side sleepers too. Side sleepers need a lot of pressure relief and memory foam is great for providing that.
If your bed is a bit too firm as is, this topper could be an easy fix. If you are on the heavier side though, I might recommend getting the four inch version of this topper as heavier people are gonna sink through foam more than light or average weight people. To ensure you get the pressure you want, a thicker topper will help.
Now onto stomach sleepers.
Stomach sleepers generally need a pretty firm mattress to ensure their hips don’t sink into the bed, causing their back to be out of alignment.
This topper will only make your bed feel softer so I wouldn’t recommend it to stomach sleepers.
Not feeling sure about this topper? Let’s go over my pros and cons to help you make your final decision, starting off with the pros.
First I would say this topper is going to be a great option for any back or side sleepers who want a little extra pressure relief and softness from their mattress.
It has a fairly classic memory foam feel that allows you to sink in for some cozy contouring.
I also really appreciate that this topper comes in multiple thickness options.
Next I appreciate that this topper has the gel infusions and the ventilation to keep it a little cooler as memory foam is notorious for trapping heat.
Finally this topper is a decently good budget buy as the queen size is currently priced at just $99. A lot of queen size toppers are over a hundred dollars, so if you’re looking to save a little bit of money, but still get something that’s really high quality, I think this topper is going to be a really good option.
Now on to the cons.
My first con for this topper would be it’s not going to be a great choice for stomach sleepers as the topper is only going to make your mattress feel softer.
If your mattress is softer, as a stomach sleeper, it might cause your hips to sink in which could cause your back to bow, leading to some back pain down the road. So I wouldn’t recommend this for stomach sleepers.
I would also say this topper doesn’t really have any features to keep it in place on top of your mattress, such as straps, a skirt or even any kind of anti-slip material on the bottom.
So if you toss and turn like crazy, this topper may shift around on top of your mattress just a bit.
