Do you need to add an extra boost of comfort to your mattress? If so you’ve come to the right place.
Here I’m taking a look at the Lift by Amerisleep mattress topper. I’m going to look and see how it affects the firmness of your mattress, what it feels like to help you determine whether it’s a good fit for you.
Is this the right mattress topper? You’re gonna find out.
Amerisleep sells a wide variety of products, including mattresses and accessories, but if you want to add some extra pressure relief to your mattress, the Lift topper by Amerisleep is a great way to go.
This topper is unique because it comes in two models. There’s comfort and there’s support.
If you want to soften up your mattress, the comfort version is a great way to go. But if you need to add some firmness, you should opt for the support.
In this article though I’m specifically looking at the comfort mattress topper.
How does it all work? Let’s take a look at its construction.
Table of Contents
This mattress topper is three inches tall, which is about an inch taller than other toppers you’ll find on the market.
It has a thin breathable cover on top, which is also removable for easy cleaning. At the bottom of the cover is micro grip technology, which is designed to help the topper stay in place and stay secure to the mattress.
But if you unzip the cover, you’ll find three inches of slow moving memory foam. This provides really great body contouring, especially around your hips. It takes a good moment for it to snap back into place.
What’s really unique about this mattress topper is that it has HIVE technology and what this means is that it’s firmer in some areas and softer in others.
So you’ll get the right amount of pressure relief for different parts of your body.
What does this all mean?
Let’s start with cooling.
Memory foam in general tends to sleep hotter than other materials, but the Amerisleep has a nice breathable cover on top which helps promote airflow.
And the memory foam itself is a lot more breathable than others you’ll find, so it should help dissipate heat.
Next, let’s talk about durability.
Because this is made with high quality materials, it should last longer than other toppers you’ll find out there.
I expect it to last between three and five years.
And last but not least motion transfer.
If you don’t know what motion transfer is, this is especially important if you share a bed with a partner.
What this means is if you’re sharing a bed with someone and they shift sleeping positions in the night, will you feel that movement on your side of the bed.
What’s great about this topper is that the memory foam really absorbs the motion. You aren’t likely to be disturbed by your partner’s movements.
To test this, I put a glass of water on the topper and gently pressed into the layers around it. There was very little disturbance in the glass of water. So the Amerisleep topper does a great job of isolating motion.
Firmness & Feel
When reviewing mattress toppers I always take a close look at how it adjusts the firmness of your bed and what it feels like.
So starting with firmness.
This mattress topper should soften your existing mattress by about two points.
So for context, a six and a half out of ten is considered medium firm.
If your bed feels more like an eight and a half out of ten, this topper will bring it closer to the industry standard.
Now let’s talk about feel.
It has a nice slow moving memory foam feel, so it provides some excellent body contouring, especially around your hips.
I will say though because you do sink into it a little bit, it can be kind of difficult to move around on this topper.
Of course we’ve got to talk about sleeping positions.
When I’m lying on my back, I feel a great amount of body contouring, especially around the hips. So if you’re looking for pressure relief, this is a good way to go.
When I’m on my side, i also feel some excellent pressure relief, especially on my shoulders and my hips.
And you can really tell the zoned support in this topper when you’re laying in the sleeping position.
When you’re laying on your stomach though, it’s not as good as a pick. Because this is a softer mattress topper, your lower back will sink into the layers quite a bit, which gets it out of alignment and it could create pain over time.
So now I’m going to talk about some of the pros and cons of the lift by Amerisleep mattress topper.
This is great if you love the memory foam feel, but you’re a little worried about getting hot at night.
In general memory foam has a tendency to trap heat, but the Lift by Amerisleep mattress topper has many features to help fight against that.
Second this is a great pick especially if you’re looking for some nice pressure relief. This is a thicker mattress topper and you’ll really notice it when you’re side sleeping on your shoulders and your hips.
Next it has a removable cover with micro grip technology. That means that it’s easy to clean and it will stay secure to your mattress.
And finally because this mattress topper is made with some high quality materials, it’s very durable. It should last you a long time.
Now I’ll touch on some of the cons for the Lift by Amerisleep mattress topper.
First of all, it’s not a good pick for stomach sleepers. Because this one is pretty soft in the sleeping position, you might feel some strain on your lower back.
But if this is the way you like to sleep, the Support Lift by Amerisleep mattress topper is a great way to go.
Second this mattress topper is not something you can use right away. It will take about 48 hours to off gas and expand. If you’re looking for something to sleep on tonight, you might want to take that into consideration.
And also this mattress topper is a very luxurious model, so it is a little bit more expensive than others you’ll find on the market.
Finally this mattress topper is final sale. It’s not eligible for Amerisleep’s typical 100 night sleep trial period. So you’ll want to be sure that this is the right thing you want before you get it.
Before I wrap up, I’ll touch on some additional information about the Lift by Amerisleep mattress topper.
