Here I’m doing a review of the Leesa hybrid pillow.
This is their second pillow. They also have one that’s just called the Leesa pillow. It is their premium foam pillow.
But this hybrid pillow is their high-end pillow.
I’m gonna talk about the technology inside the pillow, some of the stuff that I like, some of the stuff that I don’t like about it.
Table of Contents
Let’s not beat around the bush. This thing is expensive.
It starts at $109 for the standard size, and $119 for the queen size. Keep in mind that Leesa often offers discounts, so make sure to check the latest price here.
Leesa does also offer free shipping with this pillow. It’s just gonna show up in a box and you’re good to go.
They also offer a 30 night risk-free trial. Sleep on it for one month, test it for yourself, see if you like it. If you don’t like it, they’re gonna send you a prepaid label and you can ship it right back to them.
It’s one of those things where they really want you to try it so much that they’re gonna say we will literally take it back one month later if you don’t like it.
If you’re on the fence about it, try it out. At least you can get your money back.
If you do keep it, it’s backed by a three-year warranty, which is more or less standard for some of these higher-end pillows.
It’s also made in the USA.
In terms of the smell, it does have a little bit of that manufacturer smell to it. It’s got a little bit of that clean smell that will go away after about three days.
The first couple of days you could tell that it just came out of the factory. Don’t be alarmed if that happens to you. I see that all the time with pillows, sheets and also with a lot of mattresses.
In terms of feel, how does this pillow feel?
It has two different sides to it. It’s got this quilted top side, that’s almost like a European pillow top. It’s soft and comfy. It’s one of those things that you would see in a commercial for some beautiful new home. It’s really nice, it’s got this quilted cover, it contours to your head.
I really like this pillow top version.
If you flip it over though, it got these ridges, it’s got this texturized top and then underneath is a gel pad and it’s actually cool to the touch. This is the side that, if you sleep particularly hot, you may want to throw your head on because it’ll cool you down.
I sleep hot at night, but I don’t sleep so hot that I needed this thing. I found it to be actually almost too cool for me. But if you find yourself sweating at night and you sleep really, really hot, this is gonna be an option for you. Just flip it over. Everybody says the other side of the pillow is really cool.
I personally do like this top side. This is the one that I prefer. It’s just a little bit more comfy and fluffy for me.
The top layer is a hundred percent polyester. The bottom is the gel pad and then it’s using a bit of memory foam.
So while the top has a little bit more of that traditional down feeling, the bottom half is a little bit more of that memory foam feeling. Not overwhelming, but it does have a little bit of that memory foam feel to it.
The thing that’s interesting about this pillow is that it’s adjustable. It’s not only flippable but it’s adjustable.
Out of the box, this is gonna be a back and side sleeper pillow.
It’s gonna prop you up nicely, it’s got actually a quite a high loft to it. It’s about 6 and 3/4 inches tall. That’s uncompressed. When you compress it and put your head on it, it’s about 4 and 3/4. That’s going to depend on the weight of your head and the size of your head.
I would say this is gonna be a back and side sleeper pillow as it sits out of the box. So if you use it straight out of the box, you’re gonna sleep on your back or side. Otherwise it’ll kink your neck and keep you a little bit out of alignment.
However Leesa thought ahead and what they did is they added a zipper. They added a pillow insert that you can just pull out. This is polyester and it’s really nice and comfy.
When you take it out, it drops about an inch and a half, maybe two inches, off the loft and then it becomes mostly a stomach sleeper pillow.
It’s one of those where you can be any type of sleeper and you can use this pillow.
I think that was pretty great foresight for them. They said we’ve made a pillow before, this time we’re gonna make it a little bit more customizable. We’re gonna give people the option of the down feeling on the top, the memory foam on the bottom, and then we can make it work for all types of sleepers as well.
When you take that insert out, you can also find that you can take out the gel pad. You can see it’s aerated, it’s got your memory foam, it’s about an inch and a half to two inches thick.
So when you take this out, the rest of the pillow is machine washable. That’s pretty standard for some of these higher-end pillows. It is nice that you can throw this bad boy in the washing machine if you want to clean it up a little bit.
Is this pillow worth the price?
I actually don’t know. It’s up to you. That is going to be decision to you.
I think $119 is relatively expensive, but is it worth the money for you? You will have to decide.
I really like this pillow!
I like that it has this quilted top side, I like if I get really hot I can flip it over, and I like that I can use it for my side, stomach and for my back sleeping position.
I like that it has that customization option.
I do think it’ll be a durable pillow, although I think the memory foam is gonna break down a little less quickly than this quilted top. I don’t think it’s gonna age any quicker than any other pillow out there.
But I do think the memory foam in general is gonna be a little bit more durable and keep its shape. It responds back to pressure really nicely.
I don’t have any concerns about the durability of it. I think it’s gonna last just as long as any other pillow out there.
I think that a lot of people are really gonna like this pillow. And if you don’t like it, send it right back, get all your money back.
I’m gonna give this one a two thumbs up. There’s a lot to like!
