Cushion Lab Ergonomic Contour Pillow Review

Here I review Cushion Lab’s Ergonomic Contour Pillow.

Contour pillows are a nice option for those back and side sleepers or those who are a little bit of combo of both, because it’s really there to help support your head and neck, but Cushion Lab does a really good job of making this pillow their own.

It has some cool little personalized features that I can’t wait to tell you about.

If you’re ready, let’s start the review.

I’m going to talk a little bit about the benefits of contour pillows in this article.

Contour pillows are also called cervical pillows. That’s because it’s all about supporting the natural cervical curvature of your head.

If you think about it, just put your hand on the back of your head and run it along to the base of your spine and your shoulders. You’re going to feel that natural curve there.

This pillow is all about keeping that supportive. That goes for all contour pillows in general.

    Key Features

Cushion Lab does a really good job, and I mentioned that before, of making theirs personalized and one that I think might be a good fit for you, if that’s what you’re looking for.

The dimensions of this pillow — and it does come in one size right now — is 23.5″ wide, 15″ long, and it has two different heights going on.

What I mean by that is that one side is 4.3″ tall, while other side is actually 3.1″ tall. That means that, depending on your body size, your height, your neck shape, and all that, one side might feel better for you than the other. That’s what makes it nicely customized.

You also have what they call their innovative head basin. Your head’s going to lay gently into the center. Definitely more of a dip in this part of the pillow, more of a curve downwards.

You also have a little section for your shoulder. It’s curved slightly inward on both sides so that your shoulder isn’t laying on top of the pillow. It’s just supporting your head and neck, as it should.

Last but not least, another cool part about this pillow is that it has these raised cheek supports on one side. You really have to feel this pillow to understand what I mean.

If you lay your head on the back and you just turn your head to the side, you’re going to feel extra support there. It’s going to add more support to your head and neck, and your overall stability, when lying on this pillow.

The outer cover is this beautiful jersey grey. It’s super soft. It’s actually 100 percent organic cotton. You have a zipper on the side that you can just unzip. You can access that solid filling. This is their Hyperfoam. It’s really just a very dense memory foam.

It does have a pretty quick response. When you raise your head up, it will just go back to its original shape. You’re not going to have a low, sinking feeling to it.

You cannot wash the Hyperfoam, but you can machine wash and dry the nice 100 percent cotton on the outer cover.

It is hypoallergenic, which is great. You get a 30-day money back guarantee to try it out and a one-year warranty. At full price, the pillow comes in at $43.

I want to talk about the pros of the contour pillow from Cushion Lab.

It’s got great neck support. That’s really the name of the game with the contour pillow and this one does not disappoint.

Their dense Hyperfoam, this memory foam feeling, is really nice and supportive. It’s got this medium firmness to it. You’re definitely going to sink in a little bit, but you’re still going to get a lot of support, especially in these raised sides where your neck is going to go, so great neck support.

I also think it’s super affordable at $43 for this nice quality pillow, especially contour pillows, which can go up in price. I’m all about that price.

Last but not least is, I love the cover. It is like that jersey knit, sort of worn T-shirt feel. It’s thin, but it’s really gorgeous. I’ve washed it a few times and see no pilling.

When it comes to Cushion Lab’s Ergonomic Contour Pillow, there’s a few considerations I want you to think about.

The first one is that, though is a really cool contour pillow, it is limiting. Contour pillows are really just designed for back and side sleepers. They’re usually just a solid piece of foam, like this one is, with some cool curve designs.

Yes, there’s some personalizations in this one, but in general, it’s not the most adjustable pillow. That’s worth thinking about.

It also only comes in one size right now. If you’re looking for a king size pillow, you’re probably going to have to wait on that or look elsewhere.

Last but not least, it is going to come compressed in a box. You need to let it expand for two days. It needs a long time to really give itself its full expansion.

Otherwise, you’re going to look at it and it’s going to look like the cover is way too big. It’s going to be too small. You just can’t use it right away and that’s something you should know.

    Sleeping Positions

OK, we’ve reached the part of the review where I give you my opinion on who I think this pillow is going to be a best fit for, based on your sleep position.

It’s pretty straightforward, this pillow, because it really is truly designed for back sleepers, side sleepers, and those of you who roll from your back to your side at night.

You do have a nice choice between the 3.1″ height option or the 4.3″ height option on either side of this pillow.

When I’m on my back, I tend to go with the smaller side or the lower height. When I turn to my side, I need a little bit more height, a little bit more loft. That’s when I go for the 4.3″.

I love the head basting. It really is a nice place to rest your head. This medium firmness with the Hyperfoam is a perfect firmness and support level for me.

    Wrap Up

I think it’s an awesome choice for average-sized back and side sleepers.

Overall, I had a great time reviewing Cushion Lab’s Ergonomic Contour Pillow. I think it’s one of my favorite contour pillows.

I love that they added some personalized touches to it so I can switch it up without losing all those benefits of that great neck support that you get with the contour pillow.

Of course, it is going to be for back and side sleepers. Those of you who are combo or stomach sleepers, I’m sorry to leave you out.
