When you lie down on your current mattress, do you feel a little bit of pressure on your shoulders and your hips?
If so a mattress topper could be just the thing for you.
Here I’m reviewing the Casper foam mattress topper. I’m going to be going over how it adjusts the firmness of your bed, what it feels like, to determine who is a good fit for and who it’s not a good fit for.
Do you want to find out if this is the right topper for you?
Let’s get started.
Casper is one of the leading bed in a box brands, but they don’t just sell mattresses. They also sell pillows, bedding and accessories.
The Casper foam mattress topper is a great and easy way to add that comfort that Casper is known for to the top of your existing bed. It has three different layers and tons of cooling features.
But how does it all come together?

Let’s take a look at its construction.
The Casper foam mattress topper is three inches tall and it has a removable cover made with a polyester blend material.
But what’s really unique is when you look underneath the cover, there are three comfort layers inside.
First there’s an alt latex comfort layer, which provides body contouring and some great pressure relief.
Underneath that you’ll have a layer of graphite infused latex, which is meant to pull heat away from the body, which makes it a great pick for hot sleepers.
And finally this all rests on a base layer of memory foam.
So what does this all mean?
When it comes to cooling, this is a great topper because each layer has tiny little pores throughout, so that promotes airflow and helps dissipate heat.
Also the second layer is infused with graphite and this material also helps pull away heat. So overall the Casper foam mattress topper is great for hot sleepers.
Next up, I’ll chat about durability.
The Casper foam mattress topper is made with high quality materials, so I expect this to last a little bit longer than others on the market.
Overall this should last at least five years.
Last but not least, motion transfer.
If you don’t know what this is, this is especially important if you share a bed with a partner. If you’re on one side of the mattress and your partner is shifting positions in the night, will you feel that movement come over to your side of the bed.
To test this I got in on one side and my wife got it on the other and as she moved around I really didn’t feel a lot of that motion transferred to my side of the mattress.
So overall the Casper foam topper does a great job of eliminating motion transfer.
Firmness and Feel
When reviewing mattress toppers, I always look closely at how it adjusts the firmness of your bed and what it feels like.
Starting with firmness adjustment, this mattress topper should soften your bed by about two points. For reference, a six and a half out of ten is considered medium firm.
So if you’re currently sleeping on a mattress that feels more like an eight and a half out of ten, this will bring it closer to the industry standard.
And when it comes to feel, this does have kind of a slow moving classic memory foam feel. You’ll sink in just a little bit and you’ll get some great body contouring around your lower back.
I will say however though because you’re sinking into it, it makes it a little bit difficult to move around on top of this.
And of course we have to touch on sleeping positions.
When I’m lying on my back on the Casper foam topper, I feel a great amount of pressure relief around my hips and my lower back. I’ll sink in just a little bit and get some great body contouring.
Moving on to my side, I feel some excellent pressure relief along my shoulders and my hips, so if you’re a side sleeper this is a great pick.
Stomach sleepers though, this may not be the right choice for you. Because this softens the bed by about two points, it makes your hips sink in deeply into the mattress topper, so that gets your lower back out of alignment, which could create back pain over time.
Now we’re gonna touch on some of the pros and cons of the Casper foam mattress topper, starting with the pros.
This is a great pick for hot sleepers. The foam inside has tiny pores, which promotes breathability, so you shouldn’t trap body heat at night.
Second of all, this is a very durable mattress topper. It’s made with high quality materials, so it should last you a long time.
Finally this mattress topper is great if you need some additional pressure relief. You’ll really feel it along your shoulders and your hips.
Moving on to some of the cons for the Casper foam mattress topper.
First of all, this isn’t a great pick if you’re a stomach sleeper. This will soften your bed by two points and generally stomach sleepers want to sleep on a firmer surface.
Second it does take about 48 hours to off gas and expand before use. So if you’re hoping to sleep on something as soon as you get it, this is something to keep in mind.
And finally the Casper foam mattress topper is a little bit more on the pricey side of things. It is very durable and high quality, but if you’re on a budget you might want to find something else.
Before I wrap up I’m going to touch on some additional information about the Casper foam mattress topper.
