Casper is known for their luxurious bed in a box mattresses, but that’s not all they have to offer.
If you want to rest your head on their cooling foam comfort check out the Casper Foam Pillow.
This is available in a mid and a low loft, so it suits a wide variety of sleepers. But is it the right one for you?
To help you find out, I’ll go over its firmness, feel and unique features.
Let’s get started.
When most people think about bed in a box mattresses, they think of Casper. They were the first after all.
But in addition to their beds, they also sell three different types of pillows. They also offer the Casper Down and the Casper Original Pillow.
But here I’m specifically looking at the foam pillow. This is made with three supportive foam layers that help you maintain a neutral alignment all night long.
But how does this all work?
To find out we’ll take a close look at its construction.
Table of Contents
Construction
The cover is made with a blend of polyester and spandex and it feels really soft and stretchy and breathable.
It’s also machine washable. Just throw it on the cold cycle and air dry flat.
When you unzip the cover, you’ll get to Casper’s three layers of memory foam. This is very supportive and each layer has a different foam density that gives the pillow a nice squishy and comfy feel.
The outside layer is made with Casper’s proprietary AirScape foam. You’ll see it has tiny holes throughout, which helps the air escape. It’s not gonna trap heat like traditional memory foam will.
So if you’re a hot sleeper, that’s really great news.
Firmness and Feel
Two of the most important things to consider when getting a new pillow are firmness and feel.
So first let’s talk about firmness.
The Casper foam pillow has a nice medium firm feel and when your head rests in the center of it, it’ll really cradle it. But you’re not going to sink through all the way. This makes it a great pick for back sleepers.
And when it comes to feel, you’ll see that as soon as you press into it, it bounces right back. It’s pretty responsive, it’s nice and squishy and provides plenty of that foam comfort you’re looking for.
So you might be wondering what all of these terms mean.
Well first, let’s talk about the Casper pillows height, also known as its loft.
This is available in a low and a mid loft, so it suits a wide variety of different sleepers.
And just for reference, I tested the mid loft model.
Now let’s talk about its cooling features.
The Casper pillow has a thin and breathable cover and thanks to the AirScape foam on the outside, it shouldn’t trap heat. So if you’re a hot sleeper, this is a fantastic pick.
And also this pillow is exceptionally durable. It’s made with these super supportive foams and the cover is easy to maintain, so this should last you for years to come.
Sleeping Positions
Now let’s talk about sleeping positions.
When you’re buying a new pillow, you want to make sure that your spine stays in a neutral alignment and what this means is that if you’re side sleeping, your ears line up with your shoulders. And if you’re on your back or your stomach, your chin aligns with your sternum.
With the Casper Original pillow. especially the mid loft pillow, this will work super great for back sleepers. It creates both comfort and support, which is exactly what you need.
Side sleepers will definitely want to choose the mid loft pillow. The low loft probably won’t get your spine in the correct alignment.
If you’re a stomach sleeper, you’re going to want to find a pillow that is almost completely flat. That’s why I recommend the low loft pillow, if that’s your preferred sleeping position.
Pros
Now I’m going to go over some of the pros and the cons of the Casper Foam Pillow, starting with the pros.
This is a great pick if you’re a combination sleeper, especially if you switch between your back and your side. You should feel very comfortable on this pillow.
It’s also a good pick if you tend to sleep hot at night. Yes, this is made with foam, but the foams are especially breathable, so it shouldn’t trap heat like traditional memory foam pillows do.
And it’s a great pick if you want some options. It’s available in a mid and a low loft, so depending on your height and your body weight, you can get the one that’s right for you.
Cons
Now I’m going to go over some of the cons of the Casper Foam Pillow.
First of all, there is a bit of an off-gassing period. What this means is that when you first take it out of the box, it’ll be totally flat and it’ll have a slight chemical smell to it. This is completely normal and it should fade in about 48 hours.
Second of all, this is not a great pick if you’re on a super strict budget. The Casper Foam Pillow is a bit pricier than some of their baseline models. So if you’re tight on cash, you may want to consider something else.
And third, this is not a great pick if you love the feeling of a down pillow. Of course this is made with three layers of memory foam, so it feels very slow moving, it’s very squishy and if you’re looking for something kind of light and fluffy, you’re going to want to go elsewhere.
Polices
Before I wrap up I’m going to go over some additional information about the Casper Foam Pillow.
First they do offer free shipping, they also have a 30-day trial period and a one-year warranty.
And different accessories, like their Casper silk pillowcases are available.
