You know what I love to do the most? Read a good book!
But you know what helps me feel a lot more comfortable while I’m reading? A nice comforter to bundle up under, like the Layla comforter.
Comforters come in a lot of different sizes and they even have a lot of different fill options, but if you’re looking for a down alternative option, then this Layla comforter might be the comforter for you.
In this Layla comforter review, I’ll go over everything you need to know about it and whether or not it’s going to be a good pick for you to bundle up under.
Table of Contents
Let’s see what the Layla comforter is made of.
Starting with the cover, we actually don’t have an outer removable cover. Layla wants this comforter to be as is, so you don’t need a duvet cover for it.
This outer material is made of 100 percent cotton. It’s going to be nice and breathable and in my opinion it feels pretty luxuriously soft.
This cotton shell feels softer than other cotton shells, but it’s still a little crisp.
The thread count on this cover is 300. The number of threads woven into a square inch of cloth is referred to as thread count. The more open the weave, the lower the thread count, which should aid in temperature regulation.
As you can see below, we’ve got Layla’s signature hexagon grid stitching.
This is going to help prevent the fill from bunching in the corners and it’s going to keep it nice and evenly distributed while you’re using it.
As I mentioned, this is a down alternative fill and it has what Layla calls Cluster Loft. This material is going to be nice and super plush and should mimic the feeling that bird feathers give.
But since its down alternative, we don’t have to worry about our feathered friends anymore.
All the materials that go into this comforter are hypoallergenic, so you don’t have to worry about it triggering allergies and it’s safe and toxin free, with an OEKO-TEX certification.
Size & Color
In terms of sizes and options, this comforter will fit anything from a twin to a California king. So no matter what size you’ve got, you can use this comforter.
In terms of color options, it only has got two, white and gray.
As the sleep accessories editor, it’s super important that I take these products home so I can test them out and give you my best recommendations.
Layla says that their comforter is a year-round comforter, meaning that you can use this at any time of the year.
Well for me I wish I could say I would use it year round.
I’m a hot sleeper. When I first pulled this over me, I felt myself getting really warm really quickly and overheating was definitely going to be an issue for me.
When I use a comforter, it’s typically in the dead of winter, when the temperatures at night get really, really low.
I don’t really see myself using this in the Texas spring, and definitely not in a Texas summer. And even Texas autumns can be a little warm.
So, I just like to stay as cool as I can for as long as I can.
What I will say though is that I love this luxuriously soft cotton cover and the down alternative feels nice and plush.
I’m not typically the biggest fan of down anyway. No matter what, I always feel a feather poke through and that’s just super uncomfortable.
If you get cold really quickly though, this is going to keep you nice and warm and toasty when you’re using it.
If you just love your mattress looking nice and fancy, this all white model will be just for you.
Taking care of your bedding is just part of personal hygiene, so let’s talk about how you take care of the Layla comforter.
Layla recommends that you machine wash this on cold, use non-chlorine bleach when needed, especially for this white option.
Then you’ll just tumble dry it on low, but keep in mind you might need multiple dry cycles. But that’s it, It’s that easy.
Who Should Get the Layla Comforter?
I’ve talked a little bit about my experience with the Layla comforter.
But now let’s see who will enjoy this comforter and who might not enjoy it, starting with some pros and who I think is going to enjoy the Layla comforter.
I think if you are looking to keep the feathers on the bird, this is a good down alternative
option for you.
I also think that if you get cold really quickly, this is going to be a great comforter to bundle up under and get nice and warm.
Who Shouldn’t Get the Layla Comforter?
If like me you get hot really quickly, I would maybe look for a different comforter.
And if you’re shopping for a comforter on a budget, this might not be the best option for you.
That’s about all I’ve got for you with this Layla comforter review.
