Does your current bed need a little bit of a refresh. If so you’ve come to the right article.
Here I’m reviewing the Leesa mattress topper. This two-inch topper is made with responsive foam and it’s a quick and easy way to give your bed a boost.
In this article I’ll go over its firmness, feel and unique features to determine who it’s a good fit for and who it’s not a good fit for, is this the right mattress topper for you.
Let’s find out.
Leesa is a popular bed in a box mattress brand, but they don’t just sell mattresses. They also give back to the community. In fact they’ve donated thousands of mattresses to children in need.
But if you’re not quite ready to spring for a brand new Leesa mattress yet, the Leesa mattress topper is a great way to go.

It’s made with their proprietary foam and it creates excellent pressure relief.
But how does it all come together?
Let’s take a look at its construction.
The Leesa mattress topper is two inches tall and it has a cover made with a soft twill fabric and what’s great about this cover is that it’s not only removable, it is also machine washable, so it’s super easy to maintain.
Peeling back the cover, you’ll get to two inches of Leesa’s proprietary responsive foam and when you press your hand into it, it bounces right back and so it has that nice bouncy feel. But you’ll still get some great body contouring.
Xo what does this all mean?
When it comes to cooling, the Leesa mattress topper is a great pick for hot sleepers. Their proprietary foam is much more breathable than others you’ll find on the market. It’s not as likely to trap heat.
The Leesa mattress topper is made with high quality materials and we expect it to last about several years.
Finally the Leesa mattress topper is great at isolating motion. This is especially important if you share a bed with a partner.
If you’re laying on one side of the bed and your partner is shifting and tossing and turning in the night, will you feel that movement over on your side of the bed.
To test this I got in on one side and my wife got in on the other and as she moved around, I really didn’t feel that motion come over to my section of the bed.
This is a great pick for couples.
Firmness and Feel
When reviewing mattress toppers, we always look closely at firmness and feel.
Starting with firmness, the Leesa mattress topper should soften your existing mattress by one and a half points.
For reference, a six and a half out of ten is considered medium firm. If you’re currently sleeping on a much firmer mattress, this is an easy way to bring it back down to that industry standard level.
And when it comes to feel, Leesa’s mattress topper is a lot more responsive than other mattress toppers out there. When I press my hand into it, it pops right back into place. You’ll still get some amazing pressure relief from it.
But another great thing from this responsive foam is that it also makes it easy to move around on top of it. You won’t feel like you’re getting stuck inside.
Of course we have to talk about sleeping positions.
For back sleepers, the Leesa mattress topper is a great pick. You’ll sink in slightly around your hips and feel some great body contouring, but you’re not going to feel stuck inside of it.
For side sleepers, it’s also a great pick. You’ll feel some nice pressure relief along your shoulders and your hips.
For stomach sleepers this may not be the best pick. Lightweight people might feel that their body stays in alignment, but the majority of folks will feel like their hips sink deeply into the layer, which could cause some lower back pain over time.
Now I’m going to touch on who the Leesa mattress topper is a good fit for and who it’s not a good pick for.
Who Should Get The Leesa Mattress Topper?
Let’s start with the pros.
The Leesa mattress topper is great if you love a responsive foam feel. You’re not going to completely sink into it like you might with other mattress toppers.
Second, it’s great if you need some additional pressure relief, especially if you’re a side or a back sleeper. You’ll really feel it on your shoulders and your hips.
Also this is a great pick for hot sleepers. Leesa’s foam is a lot more breathable than others you’ll find. It’s not going to trap heat as much.
Finally the Leesa mattress topper is completely washable. It’s super easy to clean and maintain.
Who Shouldn’t Get The Leesa Mattress Topper?
Moving on to who the Leesa mattress topper may not be a good fit for.
The first con, not a great choice for stomach sleepers. Generally stomach sleepers want to sleep on a firm surface, so that the body stays in alignment. And because this will soften a mattress, it’s just not the best pick.
Second of all, there is a 48 hour off gas and expansion period, so when it arrives at your doorstep in a cardboard box, you’re not going to be able to sleep on it right away. You will notice a slight chemical smell at first, but it will fade after two days.
Third, it’s not a great pick if you love a slow moving memory foam feel. Leesa’s foam is a lot more responsive, so this is something to keep in mind.
And finally, Leesa’s mattress topper is a little bit more on the pricey side. It’s a very high quality product and will last you a long time, but if you’re on a budget, you might want to look elsewhere.
Before I wrap up, I’m going to touch on some additional information for the Leesa mattress topper.
