Bear Mattress Protectors
For so many people, this is the best mattress protector. Bear is a mattress company, but they made this amazing protector that complements their own mattress but also really fits any mattress up to 20 inches deep. I can vouch for that. It fits on my 10 inch mattress so snugly. It’s fitted sheet so it’s easy to get on and off.
What’s really cool about it, it’s got this proprietary fabric called HeiQ adaptive technology. What it does is it helps regulate your body temperature at night, transports heat away from your body, which makes it a great fit for athletes or people who are hot sleepers but also just for anyone.
But you’re also getting all the benefits of standard mattress protectors. It’s 100% waterproof, it prevents allergens and blocks bad bugs. It has the soft, quilted top.
It’s giving you all those things plus it’s helping keep you cool and comfortable and happy at night.
The protector is quite cool to the touch, and if you often wake up warm and sweaty in the middle of the night, this will no longer be the case with the Bear mattress protector. It does not retain heat, even on the hottest summer night!
The material is soft and doesn’t crinkle or make noise when you move.
The protector features an superb waterproof layer that will protect against spills and other accidents. Watch this video:
I also did a simple test.
I poured half a cup of water atop the Bear protector. None of the liquid was able to seep through to the mattress. Another amazing thing is that the protector itself dried quickly.
You can be sure that no matter the spill, you can be confident that this protector would prevent any spills from ever reaching your mattress.
The only con is that you may feel the hexagonal pattern of the protector under your sheets. But it is not a big deal.
It’s a five sided mattress protector, which means that it goes on the top and the sides.
It’s available in six sizes: queen, king, Cal king, full, twin and twin XL. Prices range from $60 to $100.
Free shipping and 10-year warranty included.
Bear has another extraordinary model – Bear Encasement.
It provides maximum protection for your mattress with 6-side encasement. Zipper wraps around the mattress, making it easy to remove.
It’s made with Bed Bug Banisher technology to block those unwanted creatures.
The protector is also hypoallergenic and prevents allergens, dust mites, mold, and other irritants.
The encasement is soft and smooth; it does not have the usual shower curtain feeling. Thanks to Breathe-a-Barrier technology, it stays breathable and cool.

You may be in the market for a new mattress protector or maybe you’re just got your first mattress and you need to protect it, and you’re wondering which one to get. It can actually be overwhelming because there are so many different types and styles and even prices out there.
But no worries, that’s why we put together a list of factors to consider when making your mattress protector purchase.
While choosing a mattress protector that fits your mattress seems like a no-brainer, there are definitely some specific reasons why we are bringing it up.
Some mattress protector brands carry mattress protectors in so many different sizes for unique mattresses, like RVs or cribs or even sofa mattresses. If you are considering covering one of those, don’t worry, there are brands that will fit mattresses like that.
You want to make sure your mattress protector is as close to the size of your mattress as possible or can hold tightly to your mattress, because extra material will cause shifting, it will cause noise, it will cause crinkling, you will be able to feel it under your bed sheet.
Keep in mind, it’s not like one size fits all. If you have a 22 inch thick mattress, make sure your mattress protector can hold mattresses that thick. If you’ve got one that is thinner, make sure you can find a brand that offers a low profile mattress protector, something that is going to grip your mattress as tightly as possible because that is the one that’s going to be the least detectable under your sheets.
I’ll quickly touch on your fabric option. Mattress protector come in so many different fabrics.
Common ones tend to be cotton terry, polyester, cotton or down. They’re going to be a combination of those, sometimes they’re going to add spandex or nylon or lycra or little other knit materials in there maybe to add some stretch.
Those are going to be your typical ones.
And then, there’s more likely than not going to be a waterproof layer in there. Often it’s polyurethane but sometimes it is vinyl and if you’ve got children or you are concerned about the environmental impacts of using vinyl, definitely check that out before buying it.
Overall those are is going to be your typical mattress protector material options.
Your mattress protector is going to come with its own specific set of care instructions, which are important to follow for several reasons.
One is, because more likely than not, your mattress protector is also going to come with a warranty, which can be voided if you are not caring for it correctly.
If you don’t care for it correctly, it may not live up to its top performance, which means that if something were to happen to it, you don’t care for it, leaks can get through, damage can happen to your mattress.
Be very careful, follow the dedicated instructions to your mattress protector.
Many of them will say you can machine wash it, but be careful on the drying because the high heat setting on your dryer can disrupt the waterproof membrane in the waterproof layer in your mattress protector. If that gets messed up, then water and fluids can get through into your mattress.
The good news about price is that there are so many different mattress protectors on the market that you can certainly find one in your price range.
Typically the higher performing mattress protectors are going to be a little bit more expensive. Those that protect against allergies or thermo regulating mattress protectors are going to be more expensive. They can get over a hundred dollars, maybe even close to $200.
But thinner, lightweight, more simple mattress protectors, those that have cotton terry surfaces, that are fitted sheet style, that are a little bit just more straightforward, those you can find for under $100, maybe closer to $50.
Often because there’s so many different ones on the market, they tend to be more competitively priced. I’ve seen them for as low as $20.
Most people put little thought into mattress protectors. They consider them to be one of those products that you need as protection from bacteria and accidents. Definitely, not not something you need to invest a whole lot of money.
They would usually go to a store and pick one out with their eyes closed.
However, things change when you buy high quality and more expensive mattress.
When you’re sleeping on a mattress that costs a thousand dollars or more, you want to protect it, especially if you have young kids and pets.
Another factor to keep in mind is if you overheat during the night. So while it’s important that you use a waterproof mattress cover, the majority of vinyl covers can cause heat and sweatiness. And who wants to change their bed sheets almost every night. Not me.
So, if you can, we strongly recommend that you invest in one of the best mattress protectors for bed bugs and spills we talked about in this article.
