On the other end of the spectrum, we have the Parachute sateen sheet set and they offer a totally different look and feel as compared to the sheets i just talked about.
They are super lustrous, feel silky smooth to the touch and offer this really elegant drape over your body shape and the mattress.
I will admit that I am preferential to a sateen weave because it does offer that beautiful luminous sheen. This sheet set is one of my favorite sateen sheet sets because it is one of the most lustrous sateen sheet sets I’ve ever tested.
If you like a sheet set to be really shiny and have this really high sheen, this is gonna be a good way to go.
Another thing that’s great about these sheets is they’re woven from 100% Egyptian cotton, which is widely regarded as a superior type of cotton thanks to its extra long supple fibers.
Remember when you’re shopping for cotton sheets, you want to pay close attention to the fiber or staple length because the longer the fiber, the more soft and durable the sheets will be.
Keep in mind that this sheet set is also offered in a percale version. Something cool about Parachute is they actually offer you the chance to mix and match different colors and fabrics.

Next up on my list is the Casper Cool Supima Sheet Set and as the name suggests it’s super cool, ideal for hot sleepers and made from 100% supima cotton.
Similar to Egyptian cotton, supima cotton is widely regarded as a superior type of cotton, thanks to its extra-long fibers.
It’s important to know that the primary difference between Egyptian and supima cotton is geographical. Egyptian cotton is sourced from the Nile River Valley, while supima cotton is exclusively harvested in the US.
Supima cotton is super soft and durable and these sheets are very much both of those things, but my favorite thing about this sheet set is how super cool, light and breathable it is. If you’re a hot sleeper, you’re specifically shopping for summer time, this is gonna be a great way to go.
Another one of my favorite features of this sheet set is the fitted sheet because it features this rubberized elastic band that puts a mega grip on your mattress.
If you’re someone who does a lot of rolling around and you really want to make sure that fitted sheet stays securely tucked to your mattress, I can definitely vouch for this fitted sheet.

Next up on my list is the Snowe Sateen Sheet set. It’s made from 100% long staple cotton, so it’s gonna feel super soft and durable and it features a luxuriously high thread count of 400, which really boosts its smooth feel.
The folks at Snowe describes a sheet set as having all the buttery smoothness of sateen without the high sheen. I would say that’s a very accurate description.
Because while a lot of sateen bedding does feature that really lustrous sheen, these sheets were crafted to have more of a subtle sheen for those who love that silky smooth feel but prefer them to have more of a matte appearance.
The reason I picked this sheet set specifically for sleepers who run cold or those shopping for wintertime bedding is because these sheets are a little bit thicker, lie heavier on the body and are really nice and insulating.
Keep in mind that if you are a hot sleeper or just prefer percale, Snowe does offer a percale version of the sheet set as well, but like I said if you are a sateen lover who’s also looking to sort of bundle up in some warm and cozy sheets, this is a great way to go.

Next up on my list is the organic cotton sheet set from Ball & Branch. I’ve picked it for sleepers who really prioritize eco-friendly bedding.
First of all it’s woven from 100% organic cotton and because these sheets are certified organic, that means the materials used to make them have to meet certain ecological criteria.
For example, only organic cotton seeds were used to make this bedding, it’s totally free from synthetic pesticides or insecticides and it’s a product of Fair Trade Farming.
Like I said, it is woven from 100% long staple cotton, so we know it’s gonna be super soft and durable, have a nice resistance to pilling, great color retention. But it also does feature that beautiful sateen weave, which is gonna give it a really luminous sheen.
It does come in a variety of colors. Feel free to get creative.
But something that I really appreciate about the fitted sheet in this sheet set is it’s got extra deep pockets capable of accommodating mattresses up to 17 inches deep. So if you have a really deep mattress or you have a deep mattress and you sleep with a mattress topper, this sheet set might be particularly compatible for you.
Another thing I’ll say about this sheet set is it’s definitely one of the more light and airy sateen sheets that’s I’ve ever tested.
Because sateen sheets do tend to be a bit thicker, lie heavier on the body, but these are definitely very cooling and breathable.
So if you love that sateen sheen, but you’re worried about sleeping hot, this is a great way to go.

Last but not least on my list is the Cotton Percale Sheet Set from Tuft & Needle and I picked it specifically for folks looking for high quality cotton, but don’t want to break the bank.
First of all these sheets are made from 100% supima cotton, so we know they’re gonna be extra soft and durable and exclusively harvested in the US.
They also feature a percale weave, so they’re gonna be really cool, crisp. Agreat pick for hot sleepers.
They come in a variety of colors.
The reason I love this sheet set for folks on a budget is that supima cotton similar to Egyptian cotton does tend to come at a higher price point. But this sheet set ranges in price from about $75 to $125, which is a very good value for any long staple cotton sheets, but definitely for supima cotton sheets.

What’s the best thread count for cotton sheets?
First of all let’s talk about what thread count means. Thread count just refers to the individual yarns per square inch of fabric. It’s widely considered that the higher the thread count, the better the sheets, but that’s not necessarily true.
In fact it really all depends on the quality of the cotton. When you’re working with long or extra-long staple cotton, a good thread count benchmark to follow is 250 to 600, with the higher end of that spectrum being luxuriously high.
If you’re not working with long or extra-long fibers and you’re working with an inferior, shorter cotton fiber, then the thread count value goes out the window.
In fact some bedding brands will splice together hundreds and hundreds of short inferior cotton fibers in order to boast a higher thread count.
What kind of cotton sheets are crisp?
The short answer is percale woven cotton sheets are gonna offer that really crisp cool hand feel, while sateen woven cotton sheets are much more silky and smooth.
What are the coolest cotton sheets to sleep on?
Again cotton percale is a great way to go for hot sleepers because a percale weave tends to produce a lighter, more breathable and more cooling set of sheets. But if you’re looking for cooling sheets not in the cotton variety, tensile, linen and bamboo are great ways to go.
Is Pima cotton the same as Egyptian cotton?
I already touched on this earlier, but it’s important to note that both Pima and Egyptian cotton are widely considered superior types of cotton because of their extra-long and supple fibers. The longer the fiber, the more durable the finished product.
That said, the main difference between the two is geography. You’ve got Egyptian cotton sourced from the Nile River Valley and Pima cotton is exclusively grown and harvested in the U.S.
